Clear view of community safety teaser

Australian-based electronic security experts, Western Advance, working in partnership with product supplier, Critical Room Solutions, delivered a state of the art control centre for the State Government and WA Police which 'went live' onon 1 July 2018.

Western Advance senior manager Chris Ball explains the technology solution employed by Western Advance brings together WA Police community safety initiatives including the State Government CCTV strategy at one central command and control centre.

“Western Advance was appointed to supply, install and commission the vision technology for the new Major Incident Control Centre and State Operations Control Centre for the WA Police,” he said.

“Sixteen, 55inch screens have been installed across two walls, teamed with leading edge command centre technology and integrating with existing resources, the centre can now receive video and audio feeds from various sources, including desktop PC, video modems, internet and free to air television and display the images over a total of 28 monitors and projectors.

“The technology will become instrumental in managing both major incidents and providing a greater level of integration for everyday policing as it allows access to media feeds from a range of sources resulting in a ‘bigger picture’ perspective of incidents such as bushfires and antisocial behaviour,” Mr Ball explains.

The Major Incident Control Centre (MICC) and State Operations Control Centre (SOCC) employ leading-edge technologies which have resulted one of the most sophisticated community command and control centres in the country.

Western Advance has an established reputation designing and supplying turn-key electronic security solutions to Australia’s critical infrastructure, such as the Melbourne World Trade Centre, Australian Tax Office and Brisbane and Sydney airports.

“We are seeing an incredibly rapid development of detection technology in the electronic security sector,” Mr Ball said.  “The paradigm of community safety is shifting from retrospective evidence-based CCTV recordings, to the evaluation of behaviours and prediction of threat before community safety is compromised.

“Western Advance represents leaders in the full range of these technologies, including facial recognition and concealed weaponry detection software, CCTV solutions and command centre solutions, ensuring Australia remains at the forefront of community safety capability.

“We are pleased to work with the WA Police and Critical Room Solutions to assist in the protection of the Western Australian community,” Mr Ball said.
